Birds Eye View ...

So here's my living room in the hopes we'll all understand that when I say I want a couch to take out the dorm-room feel, we know what the dorm room looks like ...

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhahahahha! :) That looks like a train station in Acapulco! Young lady, you've still got a bit of growing up to do :) I don't think they make furniture in that particular shade, unless you want to get it upholstered in dominatrix laytex red. Haha, a futon and everything, that is just like a dorm! I don't think I could keep my heartbeat under 150 in there, all that color would make me twitchy. Your metabolism must be off the scale :)

This was slightly after I moved in, but the futon was the only furniture of choice, due to the fact that I'm a weakling and nothing would fit over the staircase.

Well practical is important too and futons are easy on the back muscles. Remember that when you buy your new loveseat, they carry it in for you, but you have to carry it out yourself. It's a pretty spiffy place, matches your spunky personality. The walls kind of remind me of the Q-Bert bricks though :) I guess your favorite color must be red. Gold and black are two colors that go well with red. I think I would avoid copper, silver and brown.
